Baseball Recap: York Starts Season with Victory Against Andrew Jackson

York gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over the Andrew Jackson Volunteers. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 14-5 victory the Volunteers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.

York let JT Tobias and Korbin Malone loose on the outfield. Tobias scored four runs and stole a base, while Malone scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Malone a new career-high in runs. Jaxon Moore was another key player, getting no hits from his three at bats.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Gaffney at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Andrew Jackson, they will square off against Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
