Basketball Recap: Caldwell Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Caldwell won against Verona last Saturday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Caldwell Chiefs put the hurt on the Newark Central Blue Devils with a sharp 57-35 victory. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drean Aikins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Thomas, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Caldwell pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Newark Central, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Caldwell will head out to square off against North Star Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newark Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-61 loss against Lyndhurst on the 5th.
