Soccer Game Preview: Fall River vs. Weed

The Fall River Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Weed Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fall River is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 19 games.

Fall River had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the six-goal drubbing they dealt Trinity on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past Wolves 6-0. Give Fall River's defense some credit: that's the team's ninth straight shutout.

They hit Trinity with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Fabian Alvarez (2), Ulisses Alvarez (2), Luis Guzman, and Raul Iniguez.

Meanwhile, while the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Tulelake who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Weed have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Weed's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Fall River, their win bumped their record up to 20-1.

Fall River was able to grind out a solid victory over Weed in their previous meeting back in September, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
