The Crawford Colts will take on the Army-Navy Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crawford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Crawford turned things around against St. Joseph Academy on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over the Crusaders. The Colts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Alexis Carrillo and Abbel Martinez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Carrillo tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martinez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Crawford: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise. At the plate, Carrillo scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Martinez scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Abraham Carillo-Ceron was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crawford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Hector Fuentes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
Crawford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Army-Navy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Rock Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Army-Navy has suffered against Rock Academy since May 10, 2018.
Kai Huff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
The victory got Crawford back to even at 7-7. As for Army-Navy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Army-Navy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crawford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Army-Navy, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Crawford's hitters?
Crawford might still be hurting after the 17-6 loss they got from Army-Navy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
