Hoke County takes loss despite strong efforts from Dashinedria Riggins and Karmen Campbell

Recap: Hoke County Bucks vs. Union Pines Vikings

After flying high against the Southern Lee Cavaliers last Wednesday, the Hoke County Bucks came back down to earth. Hoke County took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Pines on Wednesday. Hoke County has struggled against Union Pines recently, as their match on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Hoke County had strong showings from Karmen Campbell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, and Dashinedria Riggins, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. Julianna Macy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.

Even though they lost, Hoke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Union Pines' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Dunn, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Corryn McCutchen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Hoke County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Union Pines, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Hoke County on the road again on Friday and play against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for Union Pines, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Southern Lee is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
