5A Aurora recap September 24, 2013

Rangeview's Keitrich Griffin rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Aurora this season in his game against Northglenn last week. Griffin's team beat the Norsemen as he sprinted for 73 yards on the play and finished with 133 in all.

Denver East fell to Cherry Creek 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Rangeview's dynamic duo of Darien Odegard and Sean O'Keefe proved tough for Northglenn to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Odegard threw for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns and O'Keefe had 80 yards receiving. Josh Gibbs helped Rangeview's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 60 yards.

David Gonzales' team's dynamic duo of Odegard and O'Keefe proved to be unstoppable against Matthew Dean's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Isaac Fuqua was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 171 yards on 28 carries as Gateway topped the Norsemen. Nyerre Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.

Odegard put up the best numbers through the air as Rangeview topped Northglenn.

O'Keefe was the best receiver in the league this week as the Raiders bested the Norsemen.

Aurora Central's Deron Harrell and Ja'ron Kellem have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Aurora in both passing and receiving yards. Harrell has thrown for 612 yards this season, while Kellem, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 21 catches for 366 yards. The Olympians' Fuqua leads the league in rushing yards with 559.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Trojans' Kellem goes up against Rangeview's Elijah Reed.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Aurora Central and the Raiders face off next week.

Next week's game between Taylor Calvert's team and Rangeview will feature a good passing match up as Harrell will test his arm against Reed's defensive ability.

The Angels are in fifth place, while Gateway is in first place.

The Raiders led the league in scoring this week by notching 34 points on Northglenn. Odegard ran for 45 yards in the win.
