Hagerstown is 0-5 against Lapel since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hagerstown will bounce into Monday's match after beating Shenandoah, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Tigers never let the Raiders get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Saturday. Hagerstown's victory was all the more impressive since the Raiders were averaging only 2.5 runs allowed on the season.

The result came thanks to Rylan Young's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Jarrett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Stinson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hagerstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Lapel came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Panthers 11-1.
Karlie Jannings made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Jannings was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Delaney Balser was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Paige Stires, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Lapel pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hagerstown, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hagerstown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. However, it's not like Lapel struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hagerstown came up short against Lapel when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 19-14. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
