Basketball Game Preview: Wendell Trojans vs. Soda Springs Cardinals

The Wendell Trojans will square off against the Soda Springs Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wendell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Soda Springs likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Wendell didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Gooding, but they still walked away with a 67-61 win.

Jonathan Swainston and Jordon Swainston were among the main playmakers for Wendell as the former went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points and the latter went 6 for 14 on his way to 19 points. The game was Jonathan's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jarett Borges was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Soda Springs' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 54-43 to Declo. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Hornets are ranked 11th).

Wendell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Soda Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
