Basketball Recap: Denver Jewish Day Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jackson Brooks and Solly Bielsky

Denver Jewish Day was the 41-38 winner over Elbert when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Denver Jewish Day Tigers lost 55-32 to the Elbert Bulldogs on Tuesday. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Denver Jewish Day's loss came despite strong showings from Solly Bielsky and Jackson Brooks. Bielsky posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Brooks scored six points and eight boards. That was a full 50% of Denver Jewish Day's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elbert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Cornell, who went 8 of 14 en route to 17 points and six boards. Ethan Tesman was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Denver Jewish Day now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Elbert, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Denver Jewish Day will welcome Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Denver Jewish Day surely won't give up without a fight. Elbert has already played their next game (against Calhan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
