Baseball Recap: Mount Union Has No Trouble Against Bald Eagle Area

Mount Union made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bald Eagle Area, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Mount Union put the hurt on Bald Eagle Area with a sharp 10-3 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Davin Yocum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mount Union let Levi Hunsinger and Georgie Bilger run wild. Hunsinger went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Bilger went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those two hits gave Bilger a new career-high. Ethan Covert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Mount Union now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bald Eagle Area, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union will square off against Penns Valley Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bald Eagle Area, they will take on Philipsburg-Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
