Softball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. O'Connor Panthers

The Warren Warriors will take on the O'Connor Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

O'Connor is facing Warren at the wrong time: Warren suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 13-3 to the Bears. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Miley Vinton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Jenna Bonilla was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, O'Connor waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.

Not much got past Faith Mayfield, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Taft off the board. Mayfield has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Araceli Alonzo was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Sierra, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Warren hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like O'Connor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
