Baseball Recap: Canyon Hills Takes a Loss

Canyon Hills had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-9-2 to make it six. They lost 9-2 to the Lincoln Hornets. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rattlers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Canyon Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Barroga, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Barroga is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Lincoln's side, Julio Ojeda made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Ojeda has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Bartolome, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Max Sevilla was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lincoln beat Canyon Hills by a score of 4-2 on Thursday.
