Softball Recap: Case Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Case was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bourne on Monday. The Cardinals blew past the Canalmen 22-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cailyn Durand was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breanna Fontes, who fired off three home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Skye Dupre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI.

Case kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Case is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bourne, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Case will face off against rival West Bridgewater at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bourne is set to challenge their familiar foe Greater New Bedford RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
