Baseball Recap: Union City Comes Up Short

Union City has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.95 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Ramsey Rams, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Soaring Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Union City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Steven Roque, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Union City's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Ramsey, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Union City and Ramsey should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Soaring Eagles will challenge Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (46 vs. 260). Meanwhile, Ramsey (ranked 40th) will meet Mahwah (ranked 143rd) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
