Baseball Game Preview: Oxford Wildcats vs. Central Raiders

The Oxford Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Central Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Oxford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They didn't even let South Haven on the board, marking Oxford's second-straight 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Oxford let Pearson Rush and Connor Commerford run wild. Rush went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Commerford scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Rush has posted since back in April of 2024. Logan Gaither was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Central not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Udall.

Oxford pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 11.1 runs thus far As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Oxford came up short against Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Oxford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
