Basketball Recap: Stanton County Comes Up Short

Stanton County lost against Lakin back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Stanton County Trojans took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakin Broncs. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Stanton County still got an impressive performance from Avery Scott, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Scott has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. Hannah Canny was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Stanton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 9-9. As for Lakin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Stanton County has already played their next game, a 64-42 defeat against Wallace County on the 21st. As for Lakin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-48 loss against Wichita County on the 20th.
