Basketball Game Preview: CHESS Christian Royals vs. Royalmont Academy Classical Prep Cristeros

The CHESS Christian Royals will take on the Royalmont Academy Classical Prep Cristeros at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. CHESS Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Royalmont Academy Classical Prep likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, CHESS Christian really took it to Varsity Opponent for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-40 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-13.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead CHESS Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Huff, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Huff is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Silas Kempe, who shot 58% from the field to rack up 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

CHESS Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Royalmont Academy Classical Prep had to start their season on the road back in November, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 60-7 loss at the hands of Spring Valley Academy. The Cristeros were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-3.

CHESS Christian's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 38.4 points thus far. As for Royalmont Academy Classical Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
