Soccer Game Preview: Topsail vs. Coastal Christian

Topsail is 1-6 against Coastal Christian since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Centurions at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Topsail barely beat West Brunswick the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates' defense stepped up to hand the Trojans a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. Christian Taber had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Topsail got from the refs.

Topsail hit West Brunswick with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ryan Dollman, Jax Lawrence, Trenton Williams, and Taber.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Coastal Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Swansboro with a sharp 4-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Coastal Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Coastal Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten matchups. As for Topsail, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5-2.
