Volleyball Game Preview: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Belleview Rattlers

The Lake Weir Hurricanes will head out to challenge the Belleview Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Weir is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Lake Weir had taken Dunnellon down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Hurricanes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

While Lake Weir had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Belleview hadn't done well against North Marion recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rattlers had just enough and edged out the Colts 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Belleview wouldn't go down easily and took North Marion into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 17-25, 26-28, 25-9, 15-11.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Belleview, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Lake Weir was able to grind out a solid victory over Belleview when the teams last played last Monday, winning 3-1. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rattlers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
