Basketball Recap: Newton County Academy Comes Up Short

After soaring to 70 points the game before, Newton County Academy was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a blow against the Sylva Bay Academy Saints, falling 72-15. The contest marked the Generals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tristen Rogers was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and five steals for Sylva Bay Academy. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Timothy Moss, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and seven boards.

Newton County Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Newton County Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they and Christ Covenant will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
