Baseball Recap: Don Lugo Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Don Lugo had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Tahquitz Titans. This was payback for the Conquistadores, who suffered a 9-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ishmael Fox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Don Lugo's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Tahquitz, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.

Don Lugo and Tahquitz should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Conquistadores (ranked 329th) will meet Chaffey (ranked 691st) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tahquitz will challenge San Jacinto at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (247 vs. 826).
