Basketball Recap: Bunn Comes Up Short

Bunn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southern Nash Firebirds. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-41 back in January.

Despite the loss, Bunn still got an impressive performance from Makayla Richardson, who posted 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Richardson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ny'Lah Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards.

Southern Nash was led to victory by Anastasia Fields and Terri Richardson. Fields almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Richardson scored 13 points and seven boards. Those 14 points gave Fields a new career-high.

Bunn's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Southern Nash, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rocky Mount the next time they take the court. Bunn will head out to face Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Southern Nash will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
