Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for South Pemiscot

South Pemiscot lost to New Madrid County Central back in December of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 72-63.

New Madrid County Central's loss came despite strong showings from Issiac Smith and Jaden Guest-Newsome. Smith shot 75% from the field on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks, while Guest-Newsome went 8-for-16 to rack up 17 points. Smith is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nick English, who posted four points.

South Pemiscot pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points over those games. As for New Madrid County Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, South Pemiscot will square off against Caruthersville at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for New Madrid County Central, they will take on Kennett in a tournament on Monday.
