Softball Recap: Maywood CES Wolfpack vs. Wilson Mules

Maywood CES lost against Wilson back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Maywood CES came up short against Wilson, falling 21-8. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mariana Contreras and Dahlia Perez did some serious damage despite the final result: Contreras scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Perez scored a run while going 3-for-3. Perez is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lianna Ornelas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Even though they lost, Maywood CES was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Maywood CES now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wilson, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Looking ahead, Maywood CES will challenge CALS Early College at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. CALS Early College will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Maywood CES surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wilson, they will be playing at home against Narbonne at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
