Softball Recap: Kennard-Dale Continues Home Dominance on Monday

It's playoff time, and Kennard-Dale had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Fleetwood Tigers 4-3.

Taryn Ashenfelter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kennard-Dale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilliana Fleming, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Elaina Zabkowski also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Kennard-Dale's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fleetwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Kennard-Dale will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fleetwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
