Basketball Game Preview: Martin County West Mavericks vs. Madelia Blackhawks

Martin County West is 10-0 against Madelia since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Martin County West Mavericks will venture away from home to square off against the Madelia Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. Martin County West will be strutting in after a win while Madelia will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Martin County West humbled Mountain Lake/Comfrey with a 49-19 victory. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Mountain Lake/Comfrey are ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Madelia was beaten by Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman 71-37 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost eight in a row.

The victory made it two in a row for Martin County West and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Madelia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
