Basketball Recap: Northeast Eagles vs. Arundel Wildcats
Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 71-59 to the Arundel Wildcats. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Arundel was led to victory by Ellis Johnson and Javeon Reed. Johnson went 10-for-19 en route to 33 points and five rebounds, while Reed shot 41% from the field to rack up 22 points along with five boards and four steals. Arundel is 5-2 when Johnson posts 15 or more points, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alexander McClain, who posted three points in addition to ten assists and six boards.
Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Arundel, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Looking ahead, Northeast will square off against Howard at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northeast will be up against Howard's rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.19 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Arundel, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-59 win against Severna Park on the 28th.
