Softball Recap: Layton Takes a Loss

Layton came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Farmington Phoenix by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Phoenix recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Serenity Overton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. JoLeigh Berg was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Layton's record now sits at 3-23. As for Farmington, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15.

While Layton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
