Baseball Game Preview: Carlisle Bison vs. Stuttgart Ricebirds

The Carlisle Bison will take on the Stuttgart Ricebirds at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Carlisle will be strutting in after a victory while Stuttgart will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Carlisle got the win against Hazen by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the Bison have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Thrift made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carlisle is 2-1 when Thrift allows one or fewer hits, but 9-10 otherwise. Thrift was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Ford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Spingola, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart came up short against Wynne on Thursday, falling 14-6. The Ricebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carlisle pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stuttgart, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
