Adding to the longest winning streak in C1 District 7 this week, Adams Central beat Chadron 22-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Patriots.
Gibbon fell to Norfolk Catholic 34-18 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gareth Stroh threw for 45 yards and 1 touchdown, ran for 13 yards and caught 9 passes for 78 yards in the loss.
Phoenix Stevenson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Grand Island Central Catholic fell to Broken Bow. The 5-foot-10 senior forced 1 fumble.
Stroh was the best wideout in the league this week as Gibbon lost to the Knights. Stroh tallied 9 receptions for 78 yards. Ryan Milks helped Gibbon's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 65 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Alex Allen of the Crusaders is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,345. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas Geiger. The Central City star has 18 catches for 253 yards.
Adams Central made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,816 from 3,294. The advance stemmed from a 22-7 victory over the Cardinals last week.
