Basketball Recap: Nucla Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Nucla and Evangel Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Nucla had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 54-52.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brycen Rummel, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Rummel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 40 times he's played. Slade Gillen was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Nucla's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Evangel Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-10.

Nucla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they and Cheyenne Wells will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Cheyenne Wells will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Evangel Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
