Baseball Recap: Acalanes Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Acalanes owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons by a score of 3-0. The matchup marked the Dons' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Branson Smith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Acalanes let David Gonzales and Ando Butner run wild. Gonzales went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Butner scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Gonzales has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keegan Goddard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Acalanes' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average this season. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Acalanes has already played their next game, a 1-0 win against James Logan on the 18th. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-6 victory against Oakland Tech on the 22nd.
