While Custer's win against Lead-Deadwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Golddiggers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since September 14, 2024.

Custer had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-15, 25-16.

Custer has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Lead-Deadwood, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Custer and Lead-Deadwood will both be playing Newell the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will host the Irrigators at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Golddiggers will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
