Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Bulldogs vs. Eustace Bulldogs

The Edgewood Bulldogs will take on the Eustace Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three contests, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Edgewood turned things around against Winona on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 2-0 shutout. The two-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Eustace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 37-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quitman. While losing is never fun, Eustace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1045th, while Quitman is ranked 420th).

Edgewood will have to keep a close watch on Paige Quigg and Katelyn Landwermeyer, a pair of players who had a big impact on Eustace's prior game. Quigg posted five points and five rebounds, while Landwermeyer put up no points and five rebounds.

Edgewood's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Eustace, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Everything came up roses for Edgewood against Eustace when the teams last played back in December of 2019, as the squad secured a 68-15 win. Does Edgewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eustace turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
