West Jordan had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They blew past the Cyprus Pirates 12-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-6 last Tuesday.

Austin Gehman tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Ethan Baldwin and Brendan Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Baldwin scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Wood went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Wood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Rowley, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

West Jordan lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

West Jordan's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Cyprus, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5.

West Jordan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
