Recap: McDowell Titans vs. Erwin Warriors
The McDowell Titans managed to keep up with the Erwin Warriors until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. McDowell was the victim of a tough 64-38 loss at the hands of Erwin. McDowell has struggled against Erwin recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, McDowell saw an underclassman step up: Danny Brown rushed for 107 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 101 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Marsh, who picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Erwin was led to victory by Nick Sharpe and Caden Ingle. Sharpe gained 62 total yards and four touchdowns, while Ingle threw for 186 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Deajaha Ray was another key contributor, rushing for 144 yards while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.
McDowell's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Erwin, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
McDowell will head out on the road to face off against A.C. Reynolds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. A.C. Reynolds is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Erwin, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Buncombe at 7:00 p.m. North Buncombe is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
