Soccer Game Preview: Anderson vs. Yreka

Anderson is 1-8 against Yreka since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Anderson Cubs will head out on the road to face off against the Yreka Miners at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Anderson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Central Valley.

Anderson used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Central Valley. Phillip Carrillo played for 60 minutes having averaged 30 this season. He made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Yreka won against West Valley on Wednesday with seven goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. Yreka put the hurt on Central Valley with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by four goals or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Yreka and bumps their season record up to 10-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those two games. As for Anderson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Anderson suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Yreka in their previous meeting back in January. Can Anderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
