Softball Game Preview: Douglas Byrd Eagles vs. Purnell Swett Rams

Douglas Byrd hasn't had much luck against Purnell Swett recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will face off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Douglas Byrd played against South View on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

On Tuesday, Purnell Swett came up short against Cape Fear and fell 13-10. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Colts: they've now lost six in a row.

Lanna Haggans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chloe Chavis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Douglas Byrd is on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9. As for Purnell Swett, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Douglas Byrd suffered a grim 23-0 defeat to Purnell Swett when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
