Basketball Recap: P.K. Yonge Blue Wave vs. Trinity Catholic Celtics
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact P.K. Yonge can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Trinity Catholic Celtics and fell 65-13. The Blue Wave lost against the Celtics in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-45 score last time.
Despite the defeat, P.K. Yonge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Matilda Parrish posted seven points and ten rebounds. Jada Adderly was another key player, putting up five points and eight boards.
Even though they lost, P.K. Yonge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Catholic only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Trinity Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liliana Rosario, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Rosario a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayhanna Owusu, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 15 points.
P.K. Yonge's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Trinity Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
P.K. Yonge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity Catholic, they will challenge Bishop Snyder at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Shelby Gaines and Ja'Niya Corbin.
