Baseball Recap: Argonaut Starts Season with Victory Against Sonora

Argonaut gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Sonora Wildcats. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jacob Teravskis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he also racked up four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Clayton Hardy was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Argonaut will be playing in front of their home fans against Sonora at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sonora, they will challenge Stagg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sonora is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
