Basketball Recap: Sonoma Academy Comes Up Short

Sonoma Academy suffered their biggest defeat since January 19, 2024 on Monday. They had to suffer through a 65-33 loss at the hands of the Piner Prospectors. The Coyotes just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Leading Piner to victory were Apollo Pereira and Tyler Coester. Pereira posted 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Coester dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Pereira has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brendan Walker, who had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Sonoma Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Piner, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Sonoma Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-17 win against Victory Christian Academy on the 7th. As for Piner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-52 defeat against Rancho Cotate on the 8th.
