The Avoyelles Charter Vikings will head out to square off against the Grace Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Avoyelles Charter's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Peabody 15-0.
Janiya Heath made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Heath was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lily Rousseau was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Guillory, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Avoyelles Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Grace Christian and Glenmora had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Grace Christian put the hurt on Glenmora with a sharp 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Not much got past Rylee Guillot, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Glenmora off the board. That's the fewest hits Guillot has allowed since March 1st.
On the hitting side, Bella Acree was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Sydney Avery was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Grace Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Avoyelles Charter, their record now sits at 8-12.
Avoyelles Charter came up short against Grace Christian in their previous matchup on March 10th, falling 7-2. Can Avoyelles Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
