Grangeville is 1-9 against Orofino since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will host the Maniacs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Grangeville sitting on three straight victories and Orofino on eight.
19 must be Grangeville's lucky number: they beat Priest River with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Bulldogs didn't even let the Spartans on the board, marking the Bulldogs' second-straight 19-0 shutout. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than ten runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Trayven Sickels was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Grangeville got a massive performance out of JT Jackson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jackson is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Thayn Williams was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Grangeville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Orofino beat Marsing 12-7 on Saturday.
Nicholas Bonner was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Aiden Olive, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Orofino pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Grangeville, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Grangeville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Orofino struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grangeville might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Orofino in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
