Volleyball Recap: Covington Comes Up Short

Covington was the 3-0 winner over Millington Central when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Tuesday. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Covington actually scored more points across those four sets (90-88), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-20, 25-21, 26-24.

Ava McCalla paced Covington's offense, picking up 24 kills. McCalla got some help from Caroline Cole and her 28 assists. McCalla was also solid from the service line: she led the team with nine aces.

Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Millington Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Coming up, Covington will welcome Douglass at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Millington Central, they will square off against Munford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
