Baseball Recap: Harrison County Beats Bishop Brossart for Their 11th Straight Win

Harrison County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bishop Brossart Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Thorobreds/Fillies, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brian Vaughn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Boston Reynolds was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Russ Persinger, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Harrison County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Brossart only posted an OBP of .269.

Harrison County pushed their record up to 23-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Brossart, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, Harrison County will head out to face off against Nicholas County at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Thorobreds/Fillies are facing the Bluejackets at the right time seeing as the Bluejackets are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Bishop Brossart, they will square off against Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
