Volleyball Recap: Mansfield Christian Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Mansfield Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Toledo Christian Eagles by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Flames, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mansfield Christian was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20.

McKenzie Webb went supernova, getting 17 digs and nine aces. Those nine aces gave her a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Mansfield Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Liza Cooper and Jada Ware certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Cooper had 19 digs and one assist, while Ware had ten digs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mansfield Christian will face off against Black River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Toledo Christian, they will challenge Oak Harbor at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
