Basketball Recap: Wesley Chapel's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Wesley Chapel was riding high fresh off their 66-40 takedown of Cypress Creek last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Wesley Chapel Wildcats and the Mitchell Mustangs didn't end well, with the Wesley Chapel Wildcats falling 62-43. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Wesley Chapel lost on Friday, don't look at Sanai Forrester-Jhagroo. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points and six rebounds. Forrester-Jhagroo's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayla Christopher, who scored ten points.

Mitchell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Priya Jacob, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Jacob is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylana Little, who put up 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

With the defeat, Wesley Chapel broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-7. As for Mitchell, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Wesley Chapel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-62 victory against Sunlake on the 28th. Mitchell has also already played their next contest, a 67-20 win against Hudson on the 28th.
