Basketball Recap: Delphi Community Beats Winamac for Their Third Straight Win

If Winamac wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Delphi Community, they should've done a better job of containing Kaydn McAtee. The Delphi Community Oracles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Winamac Warriors on Saturday, sneaking past 50-48 thanks in part to McAtee, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Hines, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points and three steals. Hines has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Burgess, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

The victory was the third in a row for Delphi Community, bringing their record for this year to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Winamac, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delphi Community will host Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Delphi Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Winamac, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winamac also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 51.8 points per game.
