Volleyball Game Preview: Jackson-Milton Bluejays vs. Monroeville Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Jackson-Milton Bluejays and the Monroeville Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Jackson-Milton sitting on three straight wins and Monroeville on 20.

Jackson-Milton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on St. John with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Mohawk came into Wednesday's matchup looking for another win against Monroeville, but Addison Homan wouldn't allow it. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2 with plenty of help from Homan, who had 35 digs and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (98-93) Monroeville actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 14-25, 15-12.

Monroeville's win came from a few key players Jackson-Milton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaci Poths, who had five digs and two aces. Madyson Miller was another key player, getting ten digs and one assist.

Monroeville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 11 consecutive matches.

Jackson-Milton's record is now 12-13. As for Monroeville, their record now sits at 22-2.
