Mercedes is 9-1 against Porter since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Mercedes will be playing in front of their home fans against Porter at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mercedes 3, Porter 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mercedes is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Weslaco East just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since February 25th.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Porter). Everything went their way against Donna on Tuesday as Porter made off with a 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now won five in a row.

Mia Sosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Gabby Sosa was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Dania Torres was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base.

Porter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donna only posted an OBP of .263.

Porter's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Mercedes, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
